Zeekr 8X 410KM Range and 1,030kw Power

The premium hybrid SUV race just got a lot more intense, and Zeekr is clearly not playing it safe.

Zeekr 8X Launch Brings Lower Pricing and Bigger Ambition

Zeekr has officially launched the 8X, its second hybrid SUV and one of the brand’s most important new products as it pushes deeper into the premium market. The launch starts at a limited-time price of 329,800 yuan, which converts to about $48,370. That is a sharp cut compared with the earlier pre-sale price and a deliberate move to attract more buyers in a highly competitive segment.

The Zeekr 8X is positioned as a mid-to-large plug-in hybrid SUV with both five-seat and six-seat layouts, aimed at families who want space without sacrificing performance or charging speed. Its proportions are substantial, measuring 5,100 mm long, 1,998 mm wide, and 1,780 mm high, with a 3,069 mm wheelbase. Those dimensions place it squarely in the territory of luxury family SUVs, where cabin space and road presence matter just as much as acceleration.

For readers following China’s fast-moving electrified SUV market, the 8X arrives in the same conversation as models like the Geely EX5 EM-i and other range-focused new energy vehicles, but with a much stronger premium-performance angle.

900V Architecture, 410 Km EV Range, And A 1,416 Km Combined Claim

Under the skin, the Zeekr 8X is based on Geely’s SEA-S architecture and uses an advanced 900-volt electrical system. That matters because high-voltage platforms can support faster charging, more efficient energy flow, and stronger performance delivery. Zeekr says the SUV uses either a 55 kWh or 70 kWh ternary lithium battery pack, depending on the version.

Officially, the maximum pure electric range is 410 km under CLTC testing. When the battery is full and the tank is topped up, Zeekr claims a combined driving range of 1,416 km. For many buyers, that kind of range is the real hook because it reduces the usual plug-in hybrid compromise between city EV use and long-distance flexibility.

“The real headline is not just the range. It is the way Zeekr combines 900V charging, large-battery hybrid capability, and strong performance into a single premium SUV.”

Fast charging is another major story. Thanks to the 900V setup and support for up to 6C charging at room temperature, Zeekr says the 8X can charge from 20% to 80% in just 9 minutes. That figure puts serious pressure on rivals and makes the vehicle feel closer to an EV in convenience while keeping the backup of a combustion engine.

If you want more context on how Chinese brands are reshaping the hybrid landscape, BYD Yuan Pro DM-i and Denza D9 DM-i show how aggressively range and efficiency are being marketed across different segments.

Performance, Smart Driving Tech, And Global Plans

Power comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine developed for hybrid use, rated at 205 kW, paired with electric motors for much higher combined output. The dual-motor version delivers a total of 660 kW and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. That is already well into performance-SUV territory.

The top-trim Yaoying edition goes even further with a three-motor megawatt-class electric drive system, a first for the hybrid segment according to Zeekr. Its peak output reaches 1,030 kW, which is roughly 1,381 hp. The sprint to 100 km/h takes just 2.96 seconds, putting it in true supercar-quick territory despite the SUV body and family-focused packaging.

Technology inside the driver-assistance stack is equally ambitious. The Zeekr 8X is the first model to debut the new G-ASD advanced driving assistance system. Standard versions use a single Nvidia Drive Thor-U chip and long-range LiDAR, while the Yaoying trim adds two Thor-U chips plus 43 sensors, including five LiDAR units, for more complete environmental awareness.

That sensor-heavy approach puts the 8X in the same tech conversation as advanced Chinese SUVs such as the XPENG GX 3000 TOPS SUV and the Changan Robotaxi L4, where the real battleground is no longer just horsepower, but computation, sensing, and autonomy.

Zeekr’s timing is no accident. The brand has been gaining momentum thanks in part to the larger Zeekr 9X, which helped push the company’s monthly deliveries above the 30,000-unit mark for the first time. With global versions of the 9X and 8X reportedly in development, the brand appears ready to move beyond China and target overseas premium buyers soon.

In a market crowded with new hybrids and EVs, the Zeekr 8X stands out because it refuses to be modest. It is part family SUV, part luxury tech showcase, and part straight-line weapon. If Zeekr brings this formula to global markets with the same specs, it could become one of the most talked-about electrified SUVs of the year.
