Powertrain Analysis

The GLA 250 e plug-in hybrid combines a 1.33-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric drive motor. Combined system output is 218 hp (160 kW), while total system torque is 450 Nm (332 lb-ft). The powertrain uses an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission designated 8G-DCT and drives the front wheels.

GLA 200 and GLA 250 mild-hybrid variants use turbocharged four-cylinder engines with displacement ranging from 1.33 liters to 2.0 liters. Their 48-volt EQ Boost starter-generator system supports outputs from 163 hp to 224 hp and torque from 270 Nm to 350 Nm. Transmission availability includes 7-speed and 8-speed dual-clutch automatic units, with front-wheel drive or 4MATIC all-wheel drive.

The GLA 250 e charging system supports AC charging at up to 11 kW and DC fast charging at up to 22 kW. The high-voltage plug-in hybrid architecture combines combustion and electric propulsion, while the mild-hybrid range uses a 48-volt electrical system.

Chassis, Aerodynamics & Driver Assistance

The exterior configuration includes muscular wheel-arch cladding, aerodynamic two-tone alloy wheels, a roof-edge spoiler, and a gloss-black rear diffuser. The rear diffuser and roof-edge spoiler manage airflow at the rear body section, while the wheel design supports the GLA’s aerodynamic exterior specification.

Lighting hardware includes full-LED headlamps with integrated daytime running light signatures and rounded LED taillights connected by a continuous rear light bar. The front fascia uses an enclosed grille panel with illuminated micro-star patterns surrounding the Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star.

Active Brake Assist includes autonomous emergency braking capability with pedestrian and cyclist detection. Active Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist, automated parking assistance, and a 360-degree camera system form the driver-assistance and low-speed maneuvering equipment package.

Digital Cockpit & Cabin Technology

The MBUX digital architecture uses a dual-screen widescreen cockpit with a digital driver display and a central multimedia touchscreen. Voice-command activation through the “Hey Mercedes” prompt controls navigation, climate settings, audio functions, and cabin ambient lighting.

Connectivity equipment includes wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, inductive smartphone charging, and over-the-air software updates. Multi-color LED ambient lighting is integrated across the dashboard, door panels, and air vents.
