Powertrain Analysis
The Leapmotor A05 uses an all-electric powertrain with lithium iron phosphate battery chemistry. The standard configuration produces 70 kW, equivalent to 94 hp, and 150 Nm from a 39.8 kWh battery pack. Its CLTC driving range reaches up to 405 km, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes approximately 11.0 seconds, and top speed is 160 km/h.
The long-range configuration increases motor output to 90 kW, equivalent to 121 hp, while retaining 150 Nm of torque. Battery capacity increases to 52–53 kWh, with liquid cooling specified for the 53 kWh LFP battery configuration. Maximum CLTC range rises by 105 km to 510 km, while 0–100 km/h acceleration improves by approximately 0.4 seconds to 10.6 seconds.
The 90 kW configuration provides 20 kW more output than the 70 kW configuration, while both versions retain the same 150 Nm torque figure and 160 km/h maximum speed. The A05 uses a digital instrument display, central touchscreen interface and multifunction steering wheel.
Dimensions & Practicality
The A05 measures 4,200 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,560 mm in height. Its 2,605 mm wheelbase represents 62.0% of the total vehicle length. Wheel options measure 16 inches or 17 inches in diameter.
Rear cargo capacity is 474 L with the rear seats in use. An additional 91 L under-floor storage compartment increases enclosed rear storage capacity to 565 L. Folding the rear seats flat expands maximum cargo capacity to 1,308 L.
Front seats are available with heating, ventilation and flat-folding capability. The cabin includes integrated storage solutions, a central infotainment touchscreen and flexible rear-seat cargo configuration.
Driver Assistance & Technology
High-spec A05 variants use a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor and external perception cameras. The hardware suite supports highway navigation assistance, urban navigation pilot functions and memory parking.
The LiDAR-equipped configuration combines external perception hardware with navigation-assistance functions for highway and urban driving environments. Memory parking is included within the high-spec driver-assistance feature set.
