POWERTRAIN ANALYSIS

The Bugatti Tourbillon uses an 8.3-liter naturally aspirated V16 engine rated at 1,000 PS and 986 hp. The V16 reaches 9,000 rpm and operates without quad-turbocharging.

The electric propulsion system adds 800 PS and 789 hp through three motors. Two motors propel the front axle, while one motor is integrated into the rear axle.

Combined output reaches 1,800 PS and 1,775 hp. A 25 kWh, oil-cooled, 800V high-voltage battery supplies the electric system.

An eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive layout distribute the hybrid system output. Acceleration is rated at 2.0 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and under 5.0 seconds from 0 to 200 km/h.

PERFORMANCE DATA

The Tourbillon reaches 445 km/h, equivalent to 276 mph, with the Speed Key engaged. The 0–100 km/h result of 2.0 seconds places the first 100 km/h interval 3.0 seconds below the stated under-5.0-second 0–200 km/h interval.

The combustion engine contributes 1,000 PS of the 1,800 PS combined total. The three-motor electric system contributes 800 PS, equal to 44.4% of the stated combined output.

COCKPIT AND CONTROL SYSTEMS

The cockpit uses power-actuated dihedral butterfly doors. The steering wheel uses a fixed central hub, with the outer rim rotating around the stationary hub.

The analog instrument cluster consists of more than 600 individual parts and weighs 700 g. Its material specification includes titanium, sapphire and rubies, with manufacturing tolerances measured in microns.

A high-definition central touchscreen remains concealed within the dashboard when inactive. The display deploys for Apple CarPlay and vehicle-camera functions.
