Powertrain Analysis
The IR28 powertrain combines a 2.2-liter V6 architecture, twin turbochargers and direct fuel injection. Total system output ranges from 700 hp to more than 800 hp, with the final figure varying by engine mapping, circuit layout and hybrid boost deployment.
The hybrid ERS integrates a motor generator unit and energy storage system. The system recovers energy during braking and provides additional driver-activated horsepower. Power reaches the driveline through an Xtrac six-speed sequential paddle-shift gearbox.
Chassis & Dynamics
The chassis uses a carbon-fiber monocoque structure engineered for low mass, structural rigidity and impact-energy absorption. The cockpit protection system combines a high-strength titanium aeroscreen frame with a ballistic-grade windscreen.
The brake system uses carbon-carbon discs and Firestone Firehawk racing tires. This package is specified for high-grip circuit operation across oval, road-course and street-course layouts.
Front and rear wing assemblies form the primary downforce package. Their sculpted surfaces target cornering stability and lower turbulent wake for closer side-by-side running. The aerodynamic configuration is designed for both high-speed oval operation and technical circuit layouts.
