Powertrain Analysis
The Datsun 620 platform uses front-mounted Nissan L-Series naturally aspirated petrol inline-four engines. The available engine family includes the 1.6 L L16, 1.8 L L18 and 2.0 L L20B, retaining a longitudinal powertrain layout for rear-wheel drive.
Transmission selection comprises 4-speed manual, 5-speed manual and 3-speed automatic configurations. All listed gearbox configurations transmit output to the rear axle through the 620’s rear-wheel-drive drivetrain architecture.
Chassis & Dynamics
The base structure is a full ladder-frame chassis. Front suspension uses an independent wishbone arrangement, while the rear assembly combines a rigid axle with leaf springs.
The concept applies an ultra-low ride height and bolted-on fender flares to the ladder-frame 620 body. Deep-dish multi-piece mesh wheels use chrome and gold finishes, paired with low-profile performance tires positioned beneath the widened arches.
Front-end bodywork replaces the standard pickup fascia with a C10 Nissan Skyline Hakosuka-inspired quad-headlight grille and chin spoiler. The hood incorporates ventilation openings and quick-release latches, while the side mirrors relocate to the front fenders.
Body Architecture
The original open pickup bed is converted into an enclosed two-door shooting-brake body. A fixed rear canopy extends the roofline over the rear structure and integrates expansive rear-side window openings.
The shooting-brake conversion changes the Datsun 620 from a pickup configuration to a two-door wagon profile. The Hakosuka-style front section, widened fenders, low ride height and enclosed rear body form the concept’s modified exterior architecture.
