Powertrain Analysis

The BEV powertrain uses a single rear-mounted electric motor rated at 175 kW, 238 hp and 320 Nm. Rear-wheel drive, a 56.12 kWh CATL lithium iron phosphate battery and a 510 km CLTC range define the battery-electric configuration. The BEV reaches 100 km/h from rest in 7.3 seconds.

The EREV configuration uses a 160 kW, 218 hp rear electric motor with a 27.28 kWh CATL lithium iron phosphate battery. A 1.5L naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol generator rated at 97 hp supports electric operation. Electric CLTC range is 200 km, while combined CLTC range reaches 1,234 km.

The BEV supports 3C DC charging, increasing battery state of charge from 30% to 80% in approximately 15 minutes. The electric powertrain architecture retains rear-mounted propulsion in both configurations.

Chassis & Dynamics

The Deepal S05 uses Changan’s EPA1 dedicated platform. The platform supports both the 175 kW battery-electric powertrain and the 160 kW range-extended electric powertrain within the same 4,620 mm body length and 2,880 mm wheelbase.

Front suspension uses an independent MacPherson layout, while the rear suspension uses an independent multi-link layout. Braking hardware consists of disc brakes at both axles, and the steering system uses electronic power assistance.

Level 2 driver-assistance equipment includes 360-degree camera coverage and adaptive cruise control. The driver information system uses an augmented-reality head-up display, replacing a conventional physical instrument cluster.

Dimensions & Practicality

The body measures 4,620 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,600 mm high. Its 2,880 mm wheelbase supports the compact crossover SUV packaging format. Frameless doors and a 1.9 m² panoramic glass roof are fitted to the body and cabin structure.

BEV cargo capacity totals 492 L in the rear compartment plus 159 L in the front trunk. The EREV provides 464 L in the rear luggage compartment. The center console incorporates a 13 L temperature-controlled storage compartment with heating and cooling functions.

The cabin’s central interface is a 15.4-inch 2.5K touchscreen operating on Deepal OS 3.0 with a Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8155P processor. Front seats are offered with power adjustment, heating, ventilation and extended leg support.
